Syrian hamsters are popular pet rodents known for the variety of colours of fur they can have as well as their sweet and docile nature. Syrian hamsters are nocturnal, meaning they are most active at night, and are solitary animals, as they must be housed ALONE to prevent aggression towards another hamster. Syrian hamsters are known to be the friendliest domesticated hamster to own as they are very tame, enjoy being handled and interacting with their owners. Typically living for around 2 years, they grow to be 6 to 8 inches long and weigh around 4 to 5 ounces.
At Widmer feeds, when coming in for your hamster, one of our staff will go through everything you need in order to house them and explain how to correctly care for one.
