The Light Sussex chicken is a dual-purpose breed known for its attractive appearance and alert yet friendly temperament. It has a white body with black hackles (neck feathers) and a black tail. They are a medium to large-sized bird and are considered hardy and easy to care for, making them a popular choice for both beginners and experienced chicken keepers.
Sussex hens will lay roughly 230 - 250 eggs per year.
Health Status and Traceability
All our birds come from registered, vaccinated parent flocks which are regularly tested for salmonella stereotypes with public heath significance in accordance with regulation (EC) No. 2160/2003
As chicks they are double vaccinated for Mareks disease MKR+HVR, plus Nobilis IB Ma5 for protection against Infectious Bronchitis.
