Chickens - Rhode Rock
Rhode Rock chickens are a hybrid breed, typically created by crossing Rhode Island Reds and Barred Plymouth Rocks, known for their calm and very docile temperament and high egg production. They are hardy birds, well-suited for various climates, and are easily recognizable by their black plumage with gold markings on the neck and chest.
They are also prolific layers, producing around 290-320 brown eggs per year.
Health Status and Traceability
All our birds come from registered, vaccinated parent flocks which are regularly tested for salmonella stereotypes with public heath significance in accordance with regulation (EC) No. 2160/2003
As chicks they are double vaccinated for Mareks disease MKR+HVR, plus Nobilis IB Ma5 for protection against Infectious Bronchitis.
